  No.2- December 15,1995
  Dear Yuichi:

You may not get this letter until after you get back from N.Z., but I decided to get it off while I could do so. That time of the year is always a busy time. I had to go to California for my uncle's 90th birthday. I spent a total of five days in San Francisco and two days at Benicia. It was a good trip. Fortunately, I left there before the bad weather got there. I sent the photo of "Gentleman Jim's " family to B.J. Martin. He was sorry to hear of Muragishi's death. He remembers M.telling him how sorry he was about " the savage actions of his comrades and that he did not have the power to stop it". Martin will not be writing the family, but asked me to convey his "memories" and best wishes to them. I do not know very much about Martin's beating, except from what I have been told. I do not know what type of hat he wrote in Omori. I will relay your feelings to Martin. I believe it was in May, 1945 when Martin and his group were sent to Sumidagawa. Al McGrew sent me a brief note about how happy he was in going to Japan and how well he was treaded. I am still trying to find a publisher for my manuscript. Unfortunately, it should have been ready a year ago. Have a good trip.

Sincerely, Bob
