  Dear Yuichi:
Your letter of the 16th arrived on the 23rd. As of now, I have no definite travel plans. The only overseas trip I would really like to take would to be in Bristol, England, on May 24 when there will be a gathering of sailing ships. They are expecting to have about a 1000 vessel on display, including some old tall sailing ships. My going there would be dependent upon the Air Forces flight schedules from San Antonio in May. I will not know what the schedule is until the 1st. of May. Then it would be a gamble if I could get on it if there was a flight to England. I will just have to wait and see what happens. I do have some free miles on Delta Airlines. I would prefer to use them for a long trip to some place I have not been before and where the Air Forece does not go to. I had thought about going to Singapore and making a brief stop in Tokyo. The stop in Tokyo would have to be rather short due o the expensive lodging there. I had thought about making this trip in the Spring (perhaps in April ), but the timing is not too important. I would have to make definite arrangements at least a month ahead of departure. I do not want to make any definite plans before the 1st. of March, unless there is a good reason to make them earlier. Due to the uncertainity of my plans which are not determined by the weather nor time of year, I suggest that you go ahead and make your plans to suit your schedule. I have tried to contact Helen McDonald without success. However, I feel sure that there is not a symposium scheduled for this year. I will let you if I hear of any thing. The only event which you may be interested in attending is the American Defenders of Bataan & Corregidor meeting in Albuquerque New Mexico ( May 11-17 ). The hotel rate is $71 for a single room. The last four days are the best time for this meeting. There are usually about 10-12 people there, who were in Omori. Since I attended the one in Boston last year, I have not made plans to be there unless I have nothing else to do at that time. I do not believe that this time would fit your schedule. Last week I received a letter from Mrs.Masako Endo in Yokohama. She requested information about the Norwegians who ware POWs in Japan and in Omori.I was able to provide her with some of the information she wanted. I drove to Brownsville, Texas, to see a friend who has a Norwegian background. She has put me in touch with her cousin in Norway. I have written him for additional information. Mrs.Endo said she had written six books. Can you provide me with any more information about her? Last night I received a telephone call from a lady who works with Nakajima (Kyodo TV). They were worried about the possibility of my coming to Japan in February on March as the weather would be bad at that time. I assured her my tentative plans were not go there during those months. I told her I would be writing you this morning about my plans. Please let them know about this letter. I must close now as I want to get this letter and the ones to Yokohama and Norway in the mail today.
Sincerely,
Bob
