Dear Yamatan,

Thank you for letting me read the email you sent to your granddaughter. Both Natchan and Osamu kun must be very proud of their grandpa for having done so much to build up the DC web site.

I am sure they are not the only ones among the offspring of DC members who have already read, or are interested in reading, the contents of DCHP.

These young people are more at home with internet communications than their fathers or grandfathers. Once they know about the DCHP, more and more of them would be interested to read about what we did in our school days or during our careers.

It may be only my imagination, but I have a feeling that these younger people might also be interested to know what the children and grandchildren of other DC members, like themselves, are doing in Japan or in the other parts of the world.

If the DCHP can create a new page to reach out for these younger visitors, (tentatively named "Links with Next Generations"), it might help itself find a path to the future, in which the DCHP may continue to live with new ideas and new spirits, instead of becoming a "time capsule" one day when all of us are gone.

Even though I have been living abroad for so many decades, I have read from time to time, quite a few pieces of information about how the sons and daughters of DC members in Japan were doing well in their respective fields of art, music, sciences and business. You and other DC members must have heard much more than I was able to.

These younger people and their children can be brought together into this new space in the DCHP, and made interested in each other, under the common bond that their fathers or grandfathers were not only classmates at Hitotsubashi but also helped each other for many decades after graduation.

There may not be a large number of these young people to show interest or to take an active part, but if there are enough of them keeping the spirit of their elders in mind, the page itself or the DCHP as a whole may not only survive the times but also develop into new forms with new energy.

If my wild ideas do not sound too wild to you, or to your committee members, I would like to suggest that all of the living members and associate members be encouraged to report to you any interesting news about their offspring, and/or the offspring of deceased DC members.

When the page carry many stories about them, there will be morestories coming in from different sources. When the young people catch the momentum of this movement, they may like to take over the initiatives anddevelop the page the way they think best for the future. Voila!

To begin with, I would suggest that you write something about Natchan and Osamu kun. Are they both living abroad now?
Shigematsu kun,for example, might be glad to write more than what he already told us about his daughter and his son-in-law in the United States.

In connection to this, I have sent you by airmail an envelope containing an invitation card we just received from our second daughter Angie to her solo art show at a gallery in Amsterdam this month.

I have also enclosed advertising photos done by our son Howard showing fashion models and sporting goods advertisements. They wanted to be different for their dad!

The other two, Judy and Irene, have followed more conventional @paths; after getting MBA's, one worked for several banks in succession, the@other for manufacturing companies.
