Dear Yuichi; Again, you have been most helpful. The information and identifications are greatly appreciated. I believe you are correct in stating Col. Suzuki is in the front row center as this would be the logical place for him. I will rely upon your identifications. It will be helpful if you can get additional identifications as I would like to have my records as complete and accurate as possible when they are given to a museum. When I first saw the second photo I had my doubt about it. Although it was identified as being in Omori I could not remember the trees being that large. Two fast growing trees had been planted in front of each barracks and along the front of the Headquarter building. The U.S. Navy did bring a kitchen into camp on Aug.29 and served boxed lunches. I was making a guess about the Japanese Officer being Lt.Muragishi. I cannotunderstand why Sam is so insistent on your not giving me permission to use the photo of Watanabe. It will be interesting to learn his reason. My curiosity has been aroused by your frequent references to "Christmas in Omori". I would appreciate hearing more about it. The reference to Lt.Nishida being sentenced to 8 years as a war crimminal made me realize I know nothing about the sentencing of any individual in Omori or Shinagawa as war criminals. Perhaps you can give me some information about this matter? I trust you had a very good trip to Egypt **6/2Wed〜6/9Wed**and Greece. I have never had a strong desire to see Egypt, but I have wanted to visit Greece. I am sorry I did not go there when I was in Turkey three years ago, but it is sometimes difficult to go where you want to when going on a Space Available basis on Air Forece planes. The early Spring and Fall is when I like to taravel on military flights as they are less crowded at that time. This September I will try to go to Alaska, Spain, Greece and/or England. I am somewhat tempted to to try for Japan as it would be nice to see you and others who were in Omori. Unfortunately, my last trip there was rather confining. I will just have to wait and see what destinations are available at that time. My traveling this year has been limited to the one trip in March to Italy. The problem with the arch of my left foot slowed me down the early part of the year. Last week, I had a cataract on my left eye. It will keep me grounded until July. Then I expect to go to Colorado to see my oldest daughter and then to San Francisco. I will be glad to be able to travel again. Again, thank you for all of the information you have given me. Sincerely, Bob |
