Dear Yuichi: I just want to bring you up-to-date on my correspondence with Mrs.Endo. The enclosed copies of her last letter and my response are self explanatory. However I do want to elaborate upon a statement I made to her. When I had a few copies of my manuscript bounded for my three children and our crew members, I also had several extra copies done for the three individuals who had been so helpful to me. One of them was you. I had planned to bring it to Japan whenever I went there, but Mrs.Endo's request caused me to take a different course of action. I decided to send her the copy that I was saving for you. This would not only save me some additional mailing costs, but it would also serve as a control on the copy I sent her. I presume by now you have finalized your travel plans. You are very fortunate in that you can accomplish these desires in traveling. I have had to limit my travels for various reasons. I am hoping that my eldest daughter's family and I will be able to get down to the Texas coast for a long weekend of fishing. Hopefully, I will be able to get on an Air Force flight in mid-May so that I can see the gathering of tall ships (sailing) in Bristol, England. I would like to go to San Francisco later this month for about a week, but I will have to wait to see if I can get away at that time. This has turned out to be a very busy month. Happy traveling. Sincerely, Bob |
