I was very glad to receive your letter of the 20th. and to know that you had a good trip to Turkey. It is a very interesting area to visit and it shows how fortunate we are in living in our respective countries.

First, I want to thank you for all of the work you have done on my behalf in regards to finding someone to translate my manuscript. I will be veryinterested in hearing what Mr.Mori has to say after he reads the manuscript. If he is willing to undertake the long task of translating a shorten version of it, I would like to know what compensation he expects to receive for doing the work. This is an important question which needs to be answered as my financial resources are limited. I believe it is better to have this question clarified before any work is done as it could prevent any difficulties later. I trust you can understand my concern.

Also, I would like to know more specifically whatportions, or parts, should be eliminated or kept in order to make it more interesting for Japanese regards. I believe I can do it without too much trouble. It would take me time to do it as my mind is not as active as it was five years ago. I believe I would start the revision with our arrival at the train station at Omori and end it with the departing from the camp. What do you think about this area idea? The title would have to be changed, but this would be a minor problem.

Your suggestion of shortening the manuscript and adding your comments is very worthy of consideration as it would provide a broader view of what happened in the camp. If this is done, then it would perhaps be best for the revision to be done by you or Mr Mori. What do you think should be done? I do not want you to be burdened with a lot of work.

I have not heard anything more about the CBS meeting with W and Z since what I said in my last letter. I will wait to hear form Lou or Draggan.
