Dear Yuichi:
I justreturned a few days ago from my trip to Vancouver,Canada, and to
the San Francisco area. It was an interesting vacation, but not as exciting
as your trip. The city of Vancouver is very clean and pretty. I took a
side trip to Whistler (75 miles north of Vancouver), which has been rated
the best ski resort in North America. I rode the ski lift up to the 6100ft.
level of Blackcomb Mt. where there was a lot of snow and when it was snowing.
Then I flew to the S.F. area to visit my elderly uncle and to see my youngest
daughter one more time before her family moved to Charolette, North Carolina,
this month. It took me two days to rest-up from the trip. Now I am tryingt
to catch-up on the correspondence which has accumulated.
Mrs.Endo wrote me to say that they were unable to do any more work on
my manuscript due to some family problems and also because the publishers
there felt that it should be rewritten and shorten. This was not a surprise
to me as I have been anticipating this possibility. She said she was returning
the manuscript to you along with a copy of her letter.Since the cost of
returning it to me would be more expensive than having another copy made
here, I would appreciate it if you would destroy it.
I am very thankful for the work that Mr.&Mrs.Endo have done on my
behalf in attempting to get the manuscript published in Japan. I will
always be grateful for their efforts.
There is no more news in regards to the CBS and Zamperini interviews since
my letter to you.
I trust your trip to Turkey was very interesting.
Sincerely
Bob
