Dear Yuichi:
Your letter of April 25 arrived yesterday (Saturday). It appears that
you will have a very interesting trip to Turkey. Unfortunately, I will
not be able to make it to Europe this month as the Air Force was not very
considerate of my travel plans. The only flight from San Antonio to Europe
this month left on the 1st. Two flights were scheduled to Japan and three
to Panama. Therefore, it looks like my Spring travel will be back to the
San Francisco area later this month. Perhaps this Fall, I will make a
better trip overseas.
I have not as yet hear anything from the CBS men. Mihailovich did leave
a message on my answering machine in response to my call requesting Zamperini's
address. I did contact Lou and had thought about going to see him this
month, but the thought of trying to get around in the congested Los Angels
area was not very appealing, so I decided against going there at this
time.
Just between you and me, I must say that I am rather disappointed about
Wade not saying about CBS contacting him not about having Zamperini's
address when I saw him in November and in our correspondence. He has been
wanting to be kept informed of what is going on and wants information,
but he is reluctant to pass any information on to the other people.
I have not heard anything from Mrs.Endo concerning the financial arrangements
is editing and translation my manuscript. I will not be surprise if she
decides not to do it. I do appreciate what she has done so far.
I hope this letter arrives before you leave for Turkey. I know you will
have a very interesting trip.
Sincerely
Bob
