Dear Yuichi:

I received both of your letters two days ago, but I could not reply until this morning.

You will be glad to know that the concerns you had in your Urgent letter were noticed. I had a friend read the revision, after I had rushed the copy to you , and he noticed the double negative. This is a mistake which is often made by Americans. I do understand the reason for your promotion to Lieutenant because we discussed it in previous letters. My concern in the revision was to eliminate the use of the word "retired"　and to indicate the promotion; regardless of the reason for it. These questions are no longer a matter of concern because the "dust-jacket" is being finalized. I have enclosed a colored copy of the cover and one of the endorsements which will be used in the final printing. I believe you will be satisfied with your comment.

I am not in agreement with the publisher's sub-title, but he is trying to sell books. I did appreciate your endorsement more than the others. I will take this opportunity to thank you for it.

I will be sending you four complimentary copies of the book. One will be for you and the others can be used as in any way you desire to use them. I will also be sending a copy to Sam and Nakajima. Will you please send me their current business addresses.

Kristian Ottosen has said he would be glad to visit with you when you get to Oslo. I have not received a response from Johan Johansen as of now. The illness of his wife may make it difficult for him to spend time with you. Therefore, I suggest that you do not plan to have the opportunity to visit with him. We will have to wait for his response.

Now to your letter of the mid-night of Dec.7-8. I started this letter at 4am.this morning.

My congratulations to you for having such a good advisor. I will now accept the congratulation money with the full knowledge of its meaning. I may keep it and it and the envelope as a symbol of our friendship. Thank you.

The "cadet" system in the Japanese army is similar to that used in the American and British armies. I was an aviation cadet while in the flying schools and became a 2nd.Lt. after I had finished training.

The British TV interviewer said he would send me a copy of the program, but I do not expect to receive it.

I must stop now in order to get this letter and some others in the mail today.
