　 Dear Yuichi:

First, myo good news. A local publisher, Eakin Press, has agreed to publish my manuscript. I will sign the Publishing Agreement next week after I have been able to clarify several items in the agreement. The Press has published several other books by former POWs. It will be about a year before the book will be ready. If there are enough pre-publications orders, then they will try to get it finished earlier. The next few months will be busy ones for me as I will be making a few corrections to it before it is set in type ( printed ).

Secondly, in answer to your question about going to Hawaii, I am sorry that the answer must be - No. when I first read your letter of Dec. 20th, my first impulse was to say "Yes" as I felt it would be good to see you again and to meet with Goldsworthy and Mrs.Nagasawa. After I had a chance to think about it, I decided there are to many uncertainties about what may happen in February to make a firm commitment ( agreement ) at this time. The uncertainties include- when they will meet in Hawaii, how enveloved will I be in the publishing process at that time and your need to be available for the possible CBS interview. Also, I had hoped to go to Charlotte to see my youngest daughter during that time. All of these made it seem unwise to make such a decision for that time. It would be a nice visit, but that is all it would be.

I talked to Zamperini about a month ago and he said that it was very unlikely ( may not happen ) that W.'s son will allow his father to be interviewed again. He also said that he had been named as an official Olympic torch bearer by the city of Nagano and would be going there about Jan.20th for a very quick and short time (several days ). I will try again to call him in a few days. He also said that the CBS one hour special program will be shown twice during the Olympics.

I have recently finished typing an up-dated list of names and current addressed of the former POWs in Omori. I will have someone else type the mailing address labels. I will include a brief notice about my manuscript being published and hopefully I will be able to inclued the dates of when the CBS special will be shown. Nothing will be said about W and Z interview. I expect to send the list out to everyone on about the 20th of this month. It will take me 3-4days, after the address labels are ready, to get them in the mail.

I believed I have covered all of the necessary items and I will inform you if there are any changes.
