Dear Yuichi:

One of the problems of traveling is coming home and then trying to catch-up on all the work and correspondence which need to be done.

I have not had the time to read the book. I had hoped there would not be very many errors in it, but you have noticed one. The caption on the first picture has one. The facilities for the searchlight / anti-aircraft gun crews were on the right end ( as you look at the photo ) of the island. Not the left. The publisher's editor was supposed to correct the picture ( show the bottom of the photo and to make this correction ) but failed to do so.

Eakin Press will select and make the decision in regards to which foreign publisher will print the book. Then the two publishers will decide on who will make the translation. The legal contracts will have to be signed before any translation is done. This could be a slow and complicated process. I am not going to worry or be concerned about it at this time and neither should you. There are too many legal questions which need to be decided and which should be left to the publisher to worry about. We ( you and I ) cannot do anything about this matter now, so we should not worry about it.

I believe Joe Alexander was brought to Japan early in 1943 and he may have done to Kawasaki before going to Omori. However , I believe he was in Shinagawa and went to a work place in Kawasaki while there. This seems to be correct in regards to what other POWs have told me . This and the questions about Tojo's visit are other matters which I am not going to worry about until I have had the opportunity to talk with Joe again.

I have answered Mrs. Nagasawa's letter. It was very nice of her to write me. I hope she and Goldsworthy are having a good visit in Hawaii. Hap Halloran had me send a book to Goldsworthy. It is also very nice of Mrs.Yamamoto wanting to do an article for the Stars and Stripes. I will appreciate it . I have not heard from Bob Kelly in Alaska. I hope he got the copy of the Zamparini video which I sent him. You have done a fine job in distributing the copies of the book. I am sure you will make good use of the other four copies I have sent you.

Jim Sansom, who was interviewed for the British video about Tojo, has not received a copy of the tape. He called me to get their address in England. I hope he will get the tape so that I can see it.
