Dear Yuichi: I am amazed that you have kept count of our letters. We certainly have done our part in keeping our postal services busy. Thank you for correcting the status of Ms.Yamamoto. Please give her my congratulations if she changes it to Mrs. Do not worry now about the translation because it is too early to do so. We must take one step at a time. I do believe it would be too much of a burden for you at this time of life. I believe it would be best for someone else to do it and then for you to check ( proof ) it for accuracy. We should not burden ourselves with any unnecessary work. We should leave it to others while we enjoy the time we have left. That is one of the reasons why I am satisfied to leave the selection of a Japanese publisher and translator in the hands of Eakin. I had a nice letter from Goldsworthy in which he told me about his visit with Mrs.Nagasawa. I also received a letter from Ottosen just as I was mailing my last letter to you. I am glad to learn that you received a reply from him. There is still no word form Kelly. I hope he got the audio tape. I may write him later. There is no news from Sansom about receiving the Tojo tape from England. I believe he will have a difficult time in getting it from the producer. Thank you for the TV schedule. I told Ed Eakin about Ms.Yamamoto doing an articl in the Stars and Stripes. He wanted me to send the enclosed card to you so that you could give it to her. It has the web site address on it. She may want to include it in her article. Last week I signed- up for Air Force flights to Europe and expected to go in April. Now I have my doubts about going. The flights go into Frankfort,Germany, and I would have to take commercial transportation or wait for AF flights elsewheres. The uncertainties and troubles of traveling AF, plus not knowing where I would like to got there, make the trip less appealing. It would be better if a flight went directly to England. The situation is complicated by the fact that I need to take care of some dental problems. I will have another root canal surgery this afternoon. Then it will be a matter of taking one step at a time before I will decid about going there. Please give my best regards to everyone. Sincerely Bob Robert R. Martindale |
