Dear Yuichi:

I wanted to let you know that I received a letter from Yumiko Nansai when I returned from San Francisco. Enclosed were the photograph of myself and Kano: plus several other pictures which were in her book about her father's diary. I was very glad to get them because the photographs are a little better than the photo-copies, which are just ink images on paper , and will last much longer. I will have them duplicated.

I enjoyed my five nights in San Francisco. It was nice to get away from Austin. I had not been able to get more than 80 miles from here in the last twelve months. The weather was in the temperatures ( mid -50's to the mid-60's ) that I enjoy when I do a lot of walking there. The morning fog was gone by noon. My legs were very tired by the fifth day, which indicated that I needed the exercise.

A letter was also waiting for me from Mrs.Sasamoto. She said that she and Mrs.Nagasawa were considering coming here in the Fall to see me and any other X-POWs who were in the Tokyo-Yokohama area. I suggested that she may want to wait until next May in order to attend the annual meeting of the American Defenders of Bataan & Corregidor in Hampton, Virginia, on May 15-20 because there are usually 5 or 6 Omori X-POWs and some who were in Kawasaki. The Kawasaki group get together for an annual dinner at that time. That area is also much more interesting and historical than is(in?) Texas. Colonial Williamsburg is close to Hampton. There are only two X-POWs in Texas that she would be interested in seeing ( Joe Alexander in San Antonio and Brice Martin in Corpus Christi ). She may have already met Joe when he was in Japan to visit you. Martin cannot travel. Incidentally, Joe was elected the new National Commander ( leader ) of the ADBC for this year. Regardless of the time or place Mrs.Sasamoto decides, I will be glad to meet her anywhere in the U.S.A.. I plan to be at the ADBC meeting in May. I had to miss the meeting in Reno, Nevada, last May.

My best wishes to you and your family.

Sincerely
Bob
