Dear Yuichi:
My delay in answering your card of the 11th. has been due to my waiting
from day to day with the hope of saying that the video had arrived. I
am sad to report that it has not yet arrived. Therefore, I will have to
wait some more before I can give you my comments about it. Takeo Sasamoto
said that I would be disappointed because they did not use very much of
the interviews. Actually, I am not surprised by her comment because I
could not see ( understand ) how very much of my interview could be used
in a production called "Christmas in Omori" based upon the questions
which were asked on me. I believethe title is not a good one because there
is very little material available which is suitable for that title. This
is especially true when they try to center the film around ( about ) the
Japanese Catholic priest. I could not see how they could make a good production.
The only interesting news I have is about the quick trip I made to Mexico
City last weekend. A Latin friend invited me to go with him to see a bull
fight celebrating the 55th anniversary of the opening of the arena. I
had three days to make a decision and to make arrangements to go there.
We left on Saturday. We saw the "corrida" ( bull-fight ) on
Sunday, but could not get tickets for the main one on Monday. So we watched
it on television which was better because we could see close-up views
and we were out of the chilly and damp weather. One matador did get gored
in his right side, but it was not serious because he was able to walk
out of the arena. We were disappointed because the performances were not
the best due to the quality of the bulls and the light rain showers during
the later half of the "coddidas". The matadors were well known.
I enjoyed the horsemanship of the "rejoneador" ( matador on
horseback ). Although it was a very tiring and brief trip ( home on Tuesday
), I am glad I went because it was good to get away from my daily routine.
I will let you know what I think about the video when it arrives here.
My best wishes to you and your family.
Sincerely
Bob
