| Dear Yuichi: Today is an important day for me. I am 83 years old. It is difficult for me to accept the fact, or realize, that I have actually lived for that many years. This is more amazing when I recall that Dr.Goad said after the war that when I arrived at Omori and was suffering from the effects of malaria and dysentery ( without any medical any medical treatment ) he had not given me a 50/50 chance of surviving. I have been very fortunate. Enclosed is a copy of the identifications of the various camp commanders and staff members. I hope I have not made any errors in typing it. Thank you for all of the work and time that you spent in providing me with this information which I consider very important. I am glad that your meeting of 10/7 went very well. I believe that it is remarkable that Takeo was able to get all of the researchers together. She is to be commended for her achievement. I am also very happy to know who gave me some Sake on 8/15, 1945. He is no longer just a unknown person who worked in the kitchen. He now has a name. Please tell Yoshika that I am sorry that I can not get to Japan and offer him a drink to thank him for his kindness. I have always thought as it was symbolic gesture that the hostilities had ended and it was now the time for peace and understanding. It was an important occasion for me.
